Spoiler-Free Match Listing for Mae Young Classic, Why Owens Lost

Last night saw the first set of tapings for the upcoming Mae Young Classic tournament that will be premiering next month on the WWE Network. Before the tapings began, we were shown all of the 32 participants that will be taking part in the historic tournament. The first four episodes were taped last night, and all of the second round matches are expected to commence taping later on tonight from Full Sail University. Each episode seems to have about roughly three or four matches per show, and the tournament appears to be a success with those in attendance so far. With all of that in mind, here is a spoiler-free match listing of what’s to come in the tournament.

Episode 4:

Kevin Owens had been the United States Champion and he also had been declaring himself “The Face of America” despite the fact that the Canadian-born Owens was clearly against the United States. Sportskeeda reports that Owens was always set to lose the title to AJ Styles at either Battleground or the MSG live event that he did lose it at. The report claims that WWE feels that they have too many antt-American characters on their shows now. Rusev and Jinder Mahal also portray similar characters, the company decided to take the title off of Owens and revamp his character as a result. AJ Styles also has a new DVD coming out and the company decided to end filming on it by having Styles win a title.
